WHAT IS CIMAAL?
The Algarve Consumer Information Mediation and Arbitration Centre comprises:
LEGAL SUPPORT AND MEDIATION SERVICES
Which provide information to consumers and professionals, mediation in disputes and endeavour to secure agreement between parties;
AN ARBITRATION TRIBUNAL
Chaired by a single Arbitrator Judge appointed by the High Council of the Judiciary, judgements delivered are in accordance with established law or following the principle of equity, with the agreement of both parties.
ARBITRATION IS
Voluntary - both parties agree to submit the dispute to the Arbitration Tribunal
Easy and Fast - the procedure is made simple without jeopardising the legal rights of either party;
Free of Charge
Effective - decisions made by the Arbitrator Judge are equivalent to those delivered by the courts of the first instance and enforceable in law. In the event of non-compliance, the decision may be enforced in a court of law exempt from any legal fees.
JURISDICTION
The Tribunal covers disputes connected with the supply of goods, provision of services or transfer of rights, intended for non-professional use by a person exercising an economic activity for remuneration, in a professional capacity.
